REIKI'S GENTLE NUDGE © Judy Fisher, 2007
Energy healing can be difficult to define for the general population, students and clients. A definition of the incredible healing power of Reiki defies our limited human vocabulary. Over the years, I have come to understand and use the term "Reiki’s Gentle Nudge" to describe what Reiki can do for each of us on this planet.
After receiving Reiki, either during a session or as part of an attunement process, the receiver is given both a gentle nudge along life's pathway and the support needed to continue the journey. Reiki encourages us to heal; to grow, to move forward, to work out our life's purpose and all of the other elements involved in living a particular lifetime. While none of these endeavors are easily accomplished, Reiki is always there to comfort, support and help us determine what the next step should be.
We are often reluctant to move out of our comfort zones in order to accomplish what we have come here to do. Reiki provides a safe environment in which to explore the possibilities that exist in our lives. The "nudge" will be different for each person depending on individual circumstances; however, Reiki never fails to provide both a gentle push and support at the same time.
Reiki asks nothing of us in order to work wonders in our lives. Simply being open to receiving Reiki’s benefits is all that it takes. Even if we are unaware of its ability to heal us, Reiki still works in the same way.
For those looking for support and healing along their journey, Reiki can provide the gentle nudge needed to get going. With the added security of knowing that support will always be provided in just the right amount needed for each individual.
EVERYDAY HEALING © Judy Fisher, 2007
In the process of healing, we often refer to the phrase "healing crisis." This typically refers to a condition immediately following a healing session or period of intense growth in our lives. This type of healing crisis may occur over a course of several days or months and has a measurable beginning and end. There is however, another way to view the healing process as it is experienced on a daily basis over the course of a lifetime.
We are designed to be in a constant state of trying to heal and find balance within ourselves. Every day our bodies attempt to heal and find that balance on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. This means, healing takes place moment by moment and is never static or without motion. Healing is an ever-changing process. When viewed in this manner, we can check our healing process and make ongoing adjustments more frequently.
Although it would be easier for us, healing is not a destination that we reach and then can say the work is finished. The status of our bodies is always changing depending on what elements we are exposed to. This happens at the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
For example:
Physical – the food and drink put into the body, illness and exhaustion
Emotional – anger, stress, happiness, joy – what is watched on TV or music listened to, relationship issues
Mental – work, over thinking, worry
Spiritual – what feeds your soul and allows it to progress or what detracts from those endeavors
All of these pieces of everyday life must be looked at and adjusted as each one affects our ability to heal and maintain balance. If one area is off balance, it can throw the rest of the systems off. Becoming aware of this delicate dance between all areas of our lives is the first step to gaining control over balance and healing. Adjusting each of these areas and deciding what to let into our lives and what to avoid is another step in the process. In this way, moment by moment, we can decide what keeps us in the state of balance and health and what does not. This is what everyday healing is about.
Reiki heals on all levels. Reiki allows the person receiving it to be in a relaxed state, which furthers the healing process. After receiving Reiki, there is a greater awareness of the inner balance and this leads to the ability to better recognize and define the ongoing process of healing. With continued Reiki, even more insight can be gained and the state of healing and relaxation can be maintained.
THE IMPORTANCE OF WAITING © Judy Fisher, 2007
When we become intent on healing, we sometimes also desire that the healing take place immediately. Our society is in a massive hurry and this approach can extend to our need to heal. While it may be possible to load up on extra vitamins, nutrients or herbs when fighting a cold or flu, any situation that requires long-term healing may take a different approach.
Although it seems like a passive stance, waiting and listening to our bodies is an extremely powerful and important avenue to pursue. Our bodies speak to us in many ways and one of these is illness. When we become out of balance, whether physically, emotionally or spiritually, physical symptoms can arise. It is only in carefully listening to and examining these symptoms that we are given the information and insight to understand what they mean and how to heal these areas of our lives.
Listening to our bodies requires a period of time where we examine our symptoms, determine what brought us to this point and what is out of balance. Then we must discover through diet, herbs, supplements, and Reiki or other body/energy work, what will lead us back to health. To judge success, the process requires time and a waiting period after each attempt at creating balance. This can be a lengthy process and takes a lot of patience and perseverance. It is not an easy task, to wait for the body to regain its sense of balance while standing by in a supportive and non-invasive way. A person must be willing to deeply communicate with his or her self and be willing to let go of control and let the body heal in the manner it was designed to. This is where true healing takes place. The type of healing that is long-term and of a permanent nature.
During this waiting and listening period, Reiki is not only supportive and relaxing, but can assist in examining all of the levels that need to be healed and balanced. Reiki can help a person determine what the next step in healing should be and is always appropriate in any and all levels of the healing process.
Common sense is needed here as in all matters involving health. If immediate attention is needed, a person must make that determination and seek the help. For those matters where the body has been allowed to fall out of balance for a period of time and that balance needs to be restored, the importance of waiting can well serve the desire and effort to heal. |
